What gets in the way today
Typing on a small screen
Small keys and small text make it hard to write things down, so much of what is worth keeping never gets kept.
Stories that are never written down
The stories only you know, about your family and your life, are easy to put off and easy to lose.
One more account, one more password
Many apps want you to sign up, choose a password and learn their settings before you can start.
Notes you can't find again
Notes on paper, in messages and in your head are hard to find again when you need them.
What Shaterian gives you
Talk instead of typing
Tap once and talk. Your words are turned into text, tagged and filed for you. The recording itself is not kept.
Ask about your own life
Ask in your own words, out loud or by typing. Shaterian answers from what you have told it, and says so when your memories do not hold the answer.
Easy to read, easy to tap
Type that grows with your iPhone's own text size, up to half again as large. Generous targets for unsteady hands, and a calm palette, in dark or light.
Reminders, calls and appointments
Ask it to set a reminder for your pills, call or message someone, or put an appointment in your calendar. It proposes, you confirm.
A summary for your doctor
The last 90 days of your own notes, as a PDF you can print, email or hand over.
Nothing to set up
No account to create and no password to remember. What you tell it is kept on your iPhone.
What people want to know
Do I have to type?
No. Tap once and talk, and your words are turned into text for you. You can also type your questions to Smith, the companion inside the app.
Can I make the writing bigger?
Yes. Shaterian follows your iPhone's own text size, up to half again as large. You change it in your iPhone's Settings, under Display & Brightness, then Text Size.
Is it hard to set up?
There is no account to create and no password to remember. Shaterian asks to use the microphone when you first come in, because talking is the main way in. Anything else, such as your photos or your calendar, it asks for only when you first bring it in, and you can say no and still use the rest.
Is it private?
What you tell it is kept on your iPhone, and there is no server of ours. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, and nothing is used to train anything.
Can my family help?
Shaterian Caregiver, for family and carers, is now on the App Store and will connect with the next version of Shaterian.
What does it cost?
Two weeks free, then $2.99 a month, through the App Store. It needs an iPhone with iOS 17 or later.
